Dockets can show hearing date, time, location, judicial officer, hearing type, party or attorney role, and case category when the matter is public. Court calendars do not include every case, and confidential or non-remotely accessible matters may be omitted from the online view.

People attending court should check in with Court Administration on the second floor of the Law Enforcement Center unless a notice gives other instructions. The county local page notes that Judge Trushenski's chambers and the courthouse courtroom are on the third floor, while visiting judge chambers and the LEC Courtroom are on the second floor of the Security Building.

Martin County Courthouse Access

The courthouse and Law Enforcement Center share the 201 Lake Avenue campus in Fairmont. The Minnesota Judicial Branch page lists Monday through Friday hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and says free surface-lot and on-street parking are available. It also notes that payments cannot be accepted at the court service counter after 2:30 p.m. on the last working day of the month, so fine payments may need the Court Payment Center or online payment route.

Martin County Court History

The current courthouse sits on the Fort Fairmount site, which gives Martin County District Court records a clear local setting. The county history page says the first courthouse was built in 1862, five years after incorporation into Minnesota Territory. It was a $200 log building raised by 151 residents, then enclosed by a stockade during the 1862 conflict period and used as part of Fort Fairmount.

The present courthouse was designed by Charles E. Bell and built by J.B. Nelson. Construction began April 9, 1906, and the building was dedicated December 16, 1907. The courthouse has a copper dome, four clock faces, Marquette raindrop sandstone, Bedford limestone, and dome murals by Franz E. Rohrbeck. A 1996 to 1997 elevator addition improved access to all three floors, and dome and roof repairs finished in December 2022.
